Business Context
This launch was a competitive-positioning problem before it was a product problem: NDHGO was losing deals to Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, and Ecwid on capability breadth. The response wasn't a marketing campaign around whatever product happened to ship — it was benchmarking the competitive set first, then building a GTM plan and a release roadmap in parallel, so the story and the product closed the same gap at the same time. I partnered directly with the Managing Director and Sales Head to own the marketing workstream across the full go-to-market, from competitive research through post-event revenue handoff.
Problem
Launching at a trade show wasn't enough on its own. The platform needed to differentiate itself against much larger, better-known commerce platforms, build awareness before prospects ever reached the exhibition floor, and educate merchants on a substantial set of new capabilities — without falling into a feature-list pitch. Just as important, the exhibition had to generate qualified pipeline rather than a stack of business cards, equip Sales with genuinely usable opportunities, and sustain momentum after the booth came down rather than losing it to the post-event lull.
Market Opportunity
Aahar concentrated exactly the audience NDHGO 2.0 needed — restaurants, food manufacturers, distributors, hospitality businesses, and retailers evaluating their commerce stack. With 60–70 new capabilities closing real gaps against Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, and Ecwid, the platform had a genuine competitive story to tell to a concentrated, decision-ready audience, rather than a marginal update to talk around.
Positioning
Before
A merchant-focused platform with a real feature gap against Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, and Ecwid — competitive on price, not on breadth.
After
NDHGO 2.0 positioned as a modernized platform with meaningfully closed feature parity — 60–70 new capabilities translated into business value for merchants, not a feature list.
Messaging
Rather than promoting a feature list, I developed positioning and messaging that translated the new capabilities into business value — how the platform solved real commerce challenges for restaurants, food manufacturers, distributors, hospitality businesses, and retailers. That messaging stayed consistent across every customer touchpoint: pre-launch campaigns, booth conversations, sales collateral, and post-event follow-up.
Go-to-Market Strategy
The real deliverable of this launch wasn't the Aahar event — it was the go-to-market system built to run it, designed from the start to be reused: awareness, event conversion, and lifecycle nurture as one continuous engine, with Marketing, Sales, and Leadership aligned to a single metric — qualified pipeline and revenue, not booth traffic.
Integrated digital campaigns — organic social media, LinkedIn Brand Awareness ads, launch announcements, event promotions, and campaign copywriting built awareness before prospects ever reached the booth.
Event landing pages — dedicated Aahar landing pages carried day-by-day promotional offers (Day 1 through the final day, plus extended post-event offers), serving as the destination for email campaigns, lead capture, and discovery meeting bookings.
Sales enablement — a full suite of launch assets (brochures, leaflets, booth branding, product presentations, goodie bags, branded pens, contact cards) gave Sales a consistent product story to deliver on the floor.
Field marketing — instead of waiting for visitors to approach the booth, we proactively prospected exhibitors and buyers across the venue, inviting decision-makers back for personalized demonstrations and one-to-one solution discussions mapped to their pain points.
Lead qualification program — I designed and led a team of marketing interns responsible for prospecting, enriching incomplete company profiles via LinkedIn and public sources, verifying information through outbound calls, applying MQL criteria, updating CRM records, and scheduling discovery meetings.
Lifecycle marketing — after the exhibition, event-specific nurture emails, landing page promotions, and time-sensitive offers kept qualified leads moving toward discovery meetings and a sales-ready CRM handoff.

Business Outcomes
NDHGO 2.0 launched successfully at Aahar 2023 as the platform's largest upgrade to date, closing significant feature parity gaps against major commerce platforms. The launch built an integrated demand generation engine combining digital campaigns, LinkedIn advertising, event marketing, landing pages, email nurturing, and structured lead qualification, and strengthened marketing and sales alignment through a structured qualification and handoff process supporting a revenue-focused, incentive-based sales strategy. This GTM playbook became the repeatable foundation for the Unizap launch the following year.
Lessons Learned
The reframe that mattered most: stop pitching features, start pitching outcomes — translating 60–70 capabilities into business value is what let merchants without time to parse a changelog actually understand the upgrade. Second, an event is a funnel stage, not the funnel — dedicated landing pages and day-by-day offers kept the pipeline moving instead of letting interest die when the booth came down. Third, and the one that proved most durable: tie sales incentives to qualified pipeline, not raw lead count, so qualification discipline holds on both sides of the handoff. That last point is exactly why this system was portable — it's the playbook Unizap's launch reused wholesale a year later.
